It’s rare for me to feature another coach’s work in these “pages” — but Canadian speaker coach Lauren Sergy‘s annotation of Joe Biden’s rhetoric was irresistible!

Even if you’re not a fan of classic rhetoric (or of Joe Biden!), you’ll smile as Sergy’s pop-ups name the devices that help make this speech so powerful.

And by the way, do I think that Biden’s speechwriter(s) were reading a rhetoric book as they crafted this political tour de force?

Hell, no!

I think they wrote from their hearts, minds, and guts.

But whether from skill, study, or experience…  and whether it was conscious or not…  someone knew what they were doing when they wrote this.
